Jaxx Announces Rootstock Integration at laBITconf

Announcement comes as Rootstock officially unveils their smart contracts based platform

Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA – 5 November 2016 – Decentral, creators of the universal wallet Jaxx, announced today the integration of Rootstock’s token RSK “Smart Bitcoin,” into their suite of software products. Jaxx becomes the first blockchain wallet to effect the integration, which will give users an opportunity to access the testnet version of the token, powered by smart contracts secured by the bitcoin network. Rootstock is immediately available on 7 of Jaxx’s 9 platforms, with support for iPhone and iPad expected shortly. The announcement comes as Rootstock executives took center stage at laBITconf to officially unveil their platform to the world’s leading blockchain experts, fintech innovators and international reporters. The concept of Rootstock is to provide faster bitcoin transactions and larger scalability, with payment confirmations occurring almost instantly.

CEO of Jaxx Anthony Di Iorio said, “Rootstock’s platform is a remarkable way to enhance the the efficiency of transactions and in turn, the entire bitcoin ecosystem. We’ve seen great interest in their project and we are big fans of the development team. Jaxx is thrilled to add the yellow label version of their coin on our wallets, and look forward to adding the main-net version in the coming months.”

Rootstock is an evolution of QixCoin, a turing-complete cryptocurrency created back in 2013 by the same development team. Rootstock will facilitate over 300 transactions per second and confirms payments in less than 20 seconds. The platform will combine the capabilities of Ethereum with the security and transparency of the Bitcoin network, using sidechain technology and a merged mining approach.

Diego Gutierrez Zaldivar, co-founder of Rootstock said, “Rootstock is not new in that it inherits intellectual work from previous projects, but what is new, is the way we create economic incentives and the way we leverage on top of the bitcoin security model. Our partnership with Jaxx is a landmark one for us, because they produce full featured, easy to use wallets on more platforms than anyone else.”

The main-net launch of Rootcoin will occur in early 2017.

Customizing Jaxx: How to Manage Tokens and Currencies

In line with Jaxx’s mission to unify the blockchain experience, we have integrated multiple tokens into our wallet over the past few months and continue to explore opportunities with other tokens. At this point, you can manage Bitcoin, Ether, Ethereum Classic, DASH, Litecoin and Augur’s REP in Jaxx, and easily convert them right in the wallet using ShapeShift.

While offering the option to hold several different tokens, we take into account that some users might only transact in one token or a select few. Also, given our users are based in different countries across the globe, we provide a series of fiat currencies. With our users in mind, we’ve introduced a feature that allows users to select which tokens and currencies are displayed by default and how to hide the rest.

Demo on Customizing Jaxx

In the video below, Annie from Jaxx will show you how to customize your Jaxx wallet so that you can add and sort the tokens and currencies that you want to see.

Her Jaxx wallet on iOS initially supports Bitcoin and Ethereum tokens only, in Canadian and US currencies. By going to “wallets” nested in the hamburger menu on the top right hand corner, you can add a few more or all of the tokens that Jaxx offers to the main interface, and display more or all of the currencies. You can also customize the order that tokens and currencies appear in by dragging and dropping them.

If you accidentally unchecked a token you have funds in, don’t worry. When a token is hidden, you won’t lose any of your funds; they will be sitting there until you re-activate it.

In any case, don’t forget to back up your wallet and secure your 12-word mnemonic phrase. Only get your Jaxx wallet from Jaxx.io and trusted stores.

Jaxx Becomes the First Multi-Platform Wallet To Offer Augur “REP”

Integration comes as AppStore approves Ethereum Classic and Litecoin goes live

Toronto, ON – October 6, 2016 – Decentral, creators of the universal blockchain wallet Jaxx, today announced a historic partnership with the Ethereum-powered prediction market Augur. Jaxx’s integration with Augur’s currency, REP, will allow users to access the token on seven different platforms, with iOS in the works. First announced in early 2015 and spurred by a successful crowdfunding through the sale of its token, Augur aims to allow users to trade on the outcome of events and for the market to then leverage that crowd-sourced information. REP’s availability on Jaxx will allow users to manage REP in one place, providing more convenient and superior access for users to enter prediction markets, both for those posing questions and thousands of others betting on the likelihood of future events.

CEO of Jaxx Anthony Di Iorio explains, “Augur is a genius concept. We are extremely excited to be integrating REP because it’s been surging in growth since it entered beta and is now becoming a hot commodity. Augur has been building decentralized prediction market whereby people can earn cryptocurrency by simply guessing correct on future events, as well as contribute to an innovative forecasting tool and community. We have developed a great friendship with the team at Augur and are looking forward to providing our customer base with the most user-friendly way to manage their REP on computer, device or phone.”

Augur’s Director of Marketing Tony Sakich said, “We are thrilled to be launching our token. It is something we’ve looked forward to since the very first days of the project. REP will be a huge hit on Jaxx; it’s my default wallet and it’s incredibly versatile.”

Sakich added, “Augur incentivizes market participants to reveal what they think will happen, rather than what they hope will happen, and REP will be used to power the predictions and earnings. We are also excited to announce that it will be available for trade against other cryptocurrencies, on Poloniex and Kraken initially, and more exchanges to follow.”

The integration of Augur comes just days after Ethereum Classic was approved by the Apple App Store, meaning the world’s fifth most valuable digital currency is now available on the Jaxx wallet for iPad and iPhone users. Litecoin has already been pre-approved by Apple, and Jaxx has submitted a new version of its wallet, complete with Litecoin and REP, for AppStore review.

Technologist Charles Hoskinson, Founder of IOHK and proponent of Ethereum Classic, said, “Every cryptocurrency requires a diverse set of reliable, secure and easy to use wallets in order to grow and thrive. Jaxx has focused enormous effort and resources on delivering one of the best in class and easiest to use wallets in the space. It’s great to see Jaxx supporting ETC. I think this is will be great relationship for both communities.”

Since launching in June 2016, more than 50,000 users have downloaded Jaxx.

Anthony Di Iorio said, “Jaxx’s mission is to bring blockchain technology to the masses by providing easy to use resources, tools and products that unify blockchain communities. We are seeing a growing number of users rally around this emerging technology and will continue providing easy to use blockchain solutions and true freedom of choice.”

Jaxx Blockchain Wallet To Add App Store-Approved Litecoin to All 9 Platforms

Fourth most valuable virtual currency will be live early October

Toronto, ON – September 21, 2016 – Decentral, creators of the universal blockchain wallet Jaxx, today announced plans to integrate Litecoin into its suite of software wallets on all of its desktop, mobile, and internet extension platforms. The integration will come into effect in early October, following significant community demand as well as pre-approval from Apple’s App Store development team, who last month listed nine approved tokens available on the iPad and iPhone. Litecoin, now just three weeks shy of its 5th birthday, is the fourth most valuable cryptocurrency by market cap, valued at approximately $180 million USD.

Jaxx Founder and CEO Anthony Di Iorio said, “We received countless requests from the community to add support for Litecoin, and we knew it was already accepted by Apple on the AppStore, so for us it’s a perfect fit and makes the most sense right now. Litecoin has stood the test of time; it’s very popular at number four, and it boasts better transaction times than Bitcoin.”

Charlie Lee, Creator of Litecoin, said, “I created Litecoin to complement, instead of compete, with Bitcoin. I’ve always envisioned a future where people transact in multiple different cryptocurrencies. Jaxx is one of the easiest to use wallets and I’m excited to be able to hold both my bitcoins and litecoins in the same wallet.”

Andrew Vegetabile, Director of the Litecoin Association, added, “Jaxx, like many of those within the Litecoin community, believes in the fact that we are part of one larger family of cryptocurrency. Having Litecoin integrated with Jaxx allows our community members, who are also members of other communities, to feel a sense of unity when accessing platforms that allow multiple cryptos. This partnership enables those cross-community members to access their various cryptocurrencies in one platform without having to worry about keeping up with multiple wallets and applications.”

Litecoin is one of the globe’s most trusted cryptocurrencies and a leading alternative payment system. In conjunction with its Jaxx integration, Litecoin will use Q4 2016 to carry out memory usage improvements, faster signature validation, SegWit integration, and potentially, confidential transactions.

Litecoin’s integration comes just a fortnight after Jaxx added support for Ethereum Classic and Dash before it. Jaxx will announce the addition of several more tokens for integration into their suite of wallets in the coming months.

“We have always been pro-technology and pro-choice. One of our primary goals is to give people options in a constantly evolving digital age. We are proud to be the one-stop shop for people managing their digital wealth; customers can now access their portfolio of coins, trade them, and hold onto their keys without having to trust a centralized exchange,” said Di Iorio.

Since launching in June 2016, over 50,000 users have downloaded Jaxx.

New Major Jaxx Release on its way; will include full Ethereum Classic (ETC) integration

ETC-post-Image-cropped***UPDATE – Ethereum Classic has been released!!***

A few weeks ago, I announced that Jaxx would not be integrating Ether Classic anytime soon. The rationale was twofold. First, I believe that we jumped the gun with our DAO efforts and wasted resources aiming to become a “DAO command center”. Lesson learned. Second, we had already committed to a short-term dev schedule that included the launch of Dash, a complete menu overhaul, new features that allow sorting and hiding of tokens and currencies, various other UI work allowing us to support more tokens, and a new express and custom wallet setup procedure for new installations of Jaxx.

Today I am happy to announce that not only were we able to complete these above tasks, but also, in our spare time, we were able to get ourselves ready for Ethereum Classic integration. In the coming days Jaxx will be releasing a major upgrade which will include full ETC support, including a simple way to split ETH / ETC right in Jaxx.

Ethereum Classic is the 6th highest blockchain token by market cap, and ideologically, I have never been averse to supporting it. If I was a maximalist, I never would have founded Ethereum and would still be proclaiming Bitcoin as the be all and end-all. I am pro-technology and all for individual choice. Jaxx shares a similar philosophy.

Adding ETC just makes sense for Jaxx: we’ve received tons of requests from both ETC fans and ETH fans and all those in between to provide integration. People need ways to store ETC outside of exchanges, and our customers (and I) need a simple way to split ETH as well as have an easy path to sell (via shapeshift), or manage their ETC. Soon they will be able to do so across 9 platforms and devices using Jaxx. The new release will be pushed in the next few days.

Jaxx Wallet Adds Dash Integration & New Custom Features

Toronto, CA – Today, Jaxx blockchain wallet has taken its latest step forward in its mission to become the definitive, cross-platform interface for blockchain technology with its integration of Dash, one of the most popular tokens in the cryptocurrency space.

The new Dash integration, which enables users to send, receive and manage their Dash tokens, marks the beginning of Jaxx’s next phase of development, which will see the onboarding of more tokens while helping to broaden and support the wider blockchain ecosystem with new back-end tools. As with previous Jaxx token integrations, users can now also buy and sell Dash directly in the wallet via the convenience of Shapeshift.

“Jaxx supports and is very active in the Bitcoin and Ethereum ecosystem, now we’re excited to be joining the vibrant Dash community”, stated Jaxx CEO and Founder Anthony Di Iorio. “We had put a call on social media asking which tokens we should add next, and Dash by far was the most vocal and enthusiastic”, Di Iorio continued.

Released via an update across all 9 platforms and devices, the new version of Jaxx also marks the debut of a customizable multi-token display. This feature enables users to select the tokens they wish to have enabled and displayed, as well as the order they appear on the main screen. This new visual experience works in tandem with the recently added base currency display options and the overall redesign of Jaxx’s menu layout to make for a sleeker, more customizable user experience.

“It’s our goal to provide an interface and user experience for blockchain that’s tailored for mass adoption,” stated Anthony Di Iorio, “similar to what the browser enabled for the internet, or the graphical user interface did for the personal computer, continued Di Iorio.” Another key tenet of Jaxx’s approach to development and growth is to provide back-end tools and infrastructure that benefits and decentralizes the entire blockchain ecosystem.

Jaxx desktop, mobile, and extension versions can be installed at jaxx.io, or by visiting the Apple App Store, Android Play Store, or Google Chrome Store for their respective versions. For media inquiries and partnership opportunities please contact [email protected]

Jaxx 1.0.5 released with adjustable BTC fee for added flexibility

If you’ve been paying attention to Bitcoin network activity over the last couple of days, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that it’s spiked to levels not seen in over two years. That’s great news for BTC holders, but a pain for wallet users who have seen their transactions take longer and longer. With the release of Jaxx 1.0.5, this will no longer be an issue.

Jaxx 1.0.5 adds the option to select a “Slow,” “Average,” or “Fast” fee level, all of which are dynamically adjusted based on the level of current network activity. Now, users who are unconcerned with speed don’t have to face heftier transaction fees, while power users can ensure that their transactions will be accepted by the network very quickly.

What we have in place is not a perfect solution, but we felt it was important to update our current options so that current Jaxx users won’t be faced with interminable wait times for BTC transactions. In future, we will also be adding Custom fee option, allowing users to specify their fee well above or below even Jaxx’s recommendations.

Previously, we had a floating fee rate based on the current transaction filesize, but this new solution is more effective for handling the current state of the Bitcoin network.

As per usual, iOS users will have to wait a little longer for Jaxx 1.0.5 due to Apple’s length app review process. If there was anything we could do about it, we would!

Dash RSVPs to the Jaxx party! Integration coming soon

Dash-JaxxIn our last blog post, we mentioned that we were interested in getting the public’s opinion on which tokens they’d like to see integrated into Jaxx next. Well, the public has spoken, and one option has come out definitely above all others: Dash!

(For those of you who requested other coins, don’t worry, we’ve got our eyes on multiple prizes…)

We don’t have a precise timeline for the Jaxx-Dash integration yet, but we’re excited for the opportunity to take advantage of Dash’s unique features and to provide a whole new user based with a sleek mobile, desktop and tablet interface for managing their coins.

We’re planning a multi-stage integration, starting with a relatively “no-frills” Dash wallet for managing DSH tokens, then incorporate Dash’s unique features afterwards.

In this mockup, you can see not only what our Dash wallet will most likely look like, but also our preliminary design for our new multi-coin interface, complete with a handy slider function for easily switching between wallets.

Jaxx dash

Our long-term goal is to provide great wallets to underserved but passionate coin communities so that they can enjoy the same convenience and accessible user experiences that BTC and ETH have enjoyed for some time, and that we believe the Jaxx-Dash integration will bring to the Dash community.
Thank you to everyone who chimed in with coin and token suggestions! There’s more to come.

Jaxx Dev Day: v1.0.4 is live, boasting new fixes and tweaks

Hey, Anthony from Decentral here. Many of you who have been using Jaxx for managing your DAO tokens have noticed that on the last couple of builds, Jaxx had trouble detecting DAO balances in the absence of an ETH transaction. 1.0.4 fixes this; DAO tokens sent or Shifted into Jaxx should no longer require an ETH transaction to become visible. This update is now available for all versions of Jaxx except for iOS. We are making an effort to get updates out swiftly on all versions, but Apple’s review process for iOS devices is proving to be a bit of an obstacle.

Please note that users *will* still need to have at least a small amount of ETH in DAO-holding Ethereum address(es) in order to be able to transfer their DAO tokens between accounts or out of Jaxx.

We’ve also added a couple more fiat base currency options (the Mexican peso and the Norwegian kroner). If there are users out there who want to see more added, we’d love to hear from you!

To iOS users who have been wondering when they can expect the ShapeShift update: we’re wondering the same thing. That version of Jaxx has been languishing in Apple’s review process for several times longer than normal, and we aren’t sure why. We’re just as anxious as you are!

Many of you have also been inquiring as to when our in-app DAO Voting and Proposal viewing system will be in place. We are still hard at work on it and hope to have it ready by next week. We have much of the back-end work done, we just need time to make sure that going live with it won’t adversely affect Jaxx’s general usability.

We are also still at work on RocketDAO, our web-based command centre for The DAO through which users will be able to browse, create, submit, and vote on Proposals, This is being developed in tandem and we are hoping to launch it in close proximity to the Jaxx voting capability update in order to ensure a seamless experience for all users.

Those of you who follow us on Twitter at @jaxx_io may have seen that we want the broader community’s opinion on which coins and tokens should be integrated into Jaxx next. We’ve already seen quite a few hands go up for Lisk, Dash, and Digix, but we would love to get more feedback, so please chime in at [email protected].

All versions of Jaxx can be downloaded from the Jaxx website.

HOLY SHIFT!! Jaxx adds ShapeShift for in-app BTC/ETH/DAO conversion (The Final Day of Jaxx)

Jaxx_Shapeshift Banner

Shapescreen1

It’s the final day of the Many Days of Jaxx, and we had to rest up yesterday, ’cause today’s a big one. The Jaxx-ShapeShift integration is finally ready to go, and we’ve just released it as part of Jaxx 1.0.2!

This release is available now for Chrome, Firefox, Android, and PC/Mac/Linux desktops, and will be available for iOS devices over the next 24-36 hours once it’s cleared Apple’s standard review process.

This feature can be used to quickly convert between the three options currently hosted by Jaxx – BTC, ETH, and DAO – and will also work for whatever coins and tokens we integrate in the future.

Jaxx users can open up the ShapeShift view by selecting the fox icon below the Amount bar on any wallet screen, or by entering “ShapeShift” into the Address bar. From this view, users can specify what coin/token type they would like to convert to, as well as view the current conversion rate for their selection and the minimum and maximum deposit allowed by ShapeShift. Users then simply enter the amount they want to convert (or “Shift”) in either fiat or the coin being converted and they’re good to go.
The Jaxx-ShapeShift integration is just the latest in what will be a wide variety of integrations designed to make Jaxx a unified blockchain command centre. I’d like to personally thank the Shapeshift team for the help with the integration and have to definitely give it up for our entire team here at Decentral.

Over the next while, we’ll be focusing on improving Jaxx’s performance, tightening up its UI, and addressing some of the bugs that have appeared in recent builds (eg. the difficulties with sweeping certain paper wallets).

Update, 4:40pm EST: We’ve just released a second update, which features a variety of UI fixes and tweaks, as well as some new fixes for the Transfer Paper Wallet feature.
