Announcing New Dev Tools for the Community – 7 Days of Jaxx Extended

62981e6c77b0152e6b06455eb0169cffHi there! Exalted Materialization Sorceress (aka Decentral CTO) Chris here.
First things first: We’ve lied to you; “7 Days of Jaxx” isn’t actually 7 days. We’re going to keep the announcements and launches coming well into next week with even more reveals and projects. We’re on a roll and we’re not ready to bring it to a halt just yet, in fact, some of the most exciting stuff is still to come. Today we’re announcing a new project that will be of specific interest to the Ethereum and DAO dev community.

While Ethereum is one of the most exciting decentralized technology platforms to have emerged over the last few years, the Ethereum dev community has been hampered somewhat by the limited number of comprehensive, publicly accessible points of access to the Ethereum network. As part of our continuing mission to support the Ethereum and DAO ecosystems, Decentral is pleased to announce that we’re constructing an API built on a new, full Ethereum node.

This API is being developed in conjunction with CoinFabrik, and over the course of the following month, will become available for a selective rollout with interested partners to test load balancing and request queues. Our plan is to offer the same service to the public with a lower request threshold until our deployment architecture is fully tested and tuned. What’s more, this API will support a full DAO node structure, including the ability to query addresses for their voting history and DAO token transaction history, as well as detecting which accounts are tied up in Proposals and for how long. This API will allow for greater interoperability for Ethereum web app devs and contribute to the overall health of the ecosystem by allowing for additional redundancy. If you’re interested in participating in our trial phase, please email me at [email protected]

The first live deployment of our API (domain to be announced) will be within Jaxx itself, and is already helping to support our DAO integration process as well as our existing Ethereum functionality.

Our rollout continues tomorrow with Day 7, and will resume on Monday with Day 8.

Introducing RocketDAO: Browse, Create, Submit, Vote (7 Days of Jaxx, Day 5)

Announcing RocketDAO

It’s Day 5 of 7 Days of Jaxx, and for today’s announcement, we’re diving back into the world of The DAO. We’re still hard at work on our full DAO integration for Jaxx, and expect to have DAO token management available in-app imminently. Today’s reveal is concerned with another aspect of The DAO: browsing, creating, submitting, and voting on Proposals.

RocketDAO - Main Screen

One of the reasons The DAO has inspired so much interest in the disruptive-tech community and beyond is the way it empowers users to have a direct say in the projects and direction of a large, decentralized community. All Decentral products prioritize ease of use and friendly, accessible blockchain technology experiences designed for the masses. To this end, we’ve conceived RocketDAO, a web portal for browsing, creating, submitting, and voting on Proposals – including those that have not yet been formally submitted to The DAO – that will integrate directly with our wallet, Jaxx.

RocketDAO - Submission Screen

RocketDAO will streamline the Proposal process to ensure that DAO members can craft, submit and give feedback on Proposals with as little friction as possible. Proposal submission through RocketDAO works like this:

Gather feedback

Getting any Proposal to even reach quorum is a daunting task given the size of The DAO’s voter base. On RocketDAO, you can easily post up an initial draft of your Proposal, then hone your message and terms according to user feedback until you’re satisfied that you’ll be able to secure the support you need going forward.

Get whitelisted
If your completed Proposal features a party who will be compensated for their services, you’ll need to get the Recipient address whitelisted by The DAO’s Curators. You’ll be able to apply directly from RocketDAO, and be notified when you’ve been greenlit.

RocketDAO - Payment Screen

Submit your finished proposal
Once you’re approved by the Curators, all you need to do is pay The DAO’s Proposal submission fee. RocketDAO presents you with a payment QR code that can be scanned by either the mobile/tablet or browser extension versions of Jaxx to facilitate the payment in seconds.

Track your progress
After you’ve completed your Proposal submission, you can track its progress and its popularity throughout the voting period.

RocketDAO will act as a marketplace and proving ground for all DAO token holders to browse, discuss and vote on Proposals. Voting will also work directly with Jaxx via our imminent DAO integration, which will also support voting and proposal browsing. Micropayments to The DAO will be required for leaving comments, in order to support the ecosystem and minimize trolling.

RocketDAO - Detailed Proposal

You can expect RocketDAO to launch shortly after our full DAO integration for Jaxx has gone live. Look for more details on that shortly as 7 Days of Jaxx continues…

Jaxx 1.0 makes its official debut on all platforms – Day 3 of 7 Days of Jaxx

After a four-month beta period, an intensive security audit, and over 10,000 downloads, we’re pleased to announce that Jaxx, our multi-platform blockchain wallet, is now officially out of beta for all device versions. It’s been vetted and battle-tested, and ready to become your all-in-one digital wallet solution. Jaxx 1.0 is now available for iOS, Android, PC/Mac/Linux desktops, and as a Chrome/Firefox browser extension. Jaxx 1.0 supports bitcoin and ether, and will be adding full support for The DAO later this week, with many more coins and tokens to follow.

Jaxx

Our Vision and Mission

Our products are built around a few key principles:

  • We never store, distribute, or even have access to customer information or funds
  • We employ common cryptographic standards to that users will be able to regain access to their funds even if we go down
  • We dislike friction points, including passwords, and do away with them whevever possible; we start with ease of use, then build in optional security features
  • Our products are design-led, with a focus on accessible, intuitive user experience and inviting graphics

These principles have informed all of our products to date, including our web wallets EthereumWallet and RushWallet and the Kryptokit Extension, and Jaxx 1.0 represents the next step in our evolution as we work to unify the blockchain experience across devices. Our goal is for Jaxx to be nothing less than the definitive wallet platform for new and experienced users of Bitcoin, Ethereum, The DAO, and ultimately a wide variety of other coins and tokens.

Security, Consistency, and Accessibility

All versions of Jaxx are built on the same Javascript/HTML codebase, ensuring consistency of experience and design across all device versions, while also taking advantage of each device’s unique features. This method also ensures we can rapidly deploy new updates for all device versions to add features and respond to user feedback very quickly.

All balances and private keys are backed up by a single 12-word mnemonic, which can also be used to pair your wallet on multiple devices. This means that whether you’re at home or on the go, you’ll have secure, quick access to all of your funds and tokens. For added security in case any of your devices is compromised, an optional security PIN protects all functions that can be used to pair your wallet or remove funds.

Robust, Responsive Support

We know that for new and even seasoned users, the crypto space can be very confusing, even hostile, turning away many potential users and hampering community growth. Our Help Center breaks down Jaxx feature by feature in plain language, and our support team works hard to respond to any and all user issues and questions efficiently, often within just a few minutes. Whether you’re having trouble spotting a particular security feature or you’re confused about how to get your first bitcoin, we’re always happy to help and advise. You can reach us via the Support widget at Jaxx.io.

The Future of Jaxx

As Jaxx continues to grow, our ultimate goal is to become the command center for your digital life, including all of your coins, tokens, contracts, identity, etc. Our upcoming slate of integrations will greatly enhance Jaxx’s flexibility and functionality and get us closer to that goal. We were the first to unite Bitcoin and Ethereum in a single wallet, as well as the first to bring Ethereum to iOS, and we’re looking forward to a lot more milestones to come.

You can find links to all versions of Jaxx at Jaxx.io. Expect more major announcements as 7 Days of Jaxx continues..

7 Days of Jaxx: What’s in the Box?

7 Days of Jaxx

Welcome to 7 Days of Jaxx! We’ve challenged ourselves to present 7 major initiatives, releases and announcements over the course of 1 week that we think the whole community will be really excited about.

We got the ball rolling yesterday with our launch of Jaxx 1.0 on iOS (let’s consider that Day 1), and tomorrow brings the rest of the Jaxx 1.0 rollout across the remaining platforms and devices. Today we’re revealing the revised design and concept for our Coin Card program. As for the rest, you’ll just have to figure ‘em out…

A couple of months back, we announced that we would be launching an initia2cards (1)tive that would enable the easy purchase of Bitcoin in Canada. Now, we are excited to let Canadians know that we’ve secured a partnership with Gateway Newstands, a Canadian company that has hundreds of convenience stores across the country, to stock Jaxx Coin Cards. We’re also excited to announce that we will also be adding Ether to the mix making it the first time ever Ether will be able to be bought with cash in stores. As we add more coins to Jaxx, these should also become available for purchase using Jaxx Coin Cards. Users just purchase the cards with cash, peel off a sticker to reveal a QR code, and scan it from their Jaxx wallet to import the funds, making the purchase and importing of coins quick, easy, and convenient.

Jaxx Coin Cards are currently available only to Canadian users, but we believe our Cards are a much simpler, more efficient way to get quick access to funds than ATM systems or exchanges, and hope to expand the program beyond Canada’s borders in the near future.

Stay tuned for more exciting announcements as 7 Days of Jaxx continues!
