Jaxx Blockchain Wallet To Add App Store-Approved Litecoin to All 9 Platforms

Fourth most valuable virtual currency will be live early October

Toronto, ON – September 21, 2016 – Decentral, creators of the universal blockchain wallet Jaxx, today announced plans to integrate Litecoin into its suite of software wallets on all of its desktop, mobile, and internet extension platforms. The integration will come into effect in early October, following significant community demand as well as pre-approval from Apple’s App Store development team, who last month listed nine approved tokens available on the iPad and iPhone. Litecoin, now just three weeks shy of its 5th birthday, is the fourth most valuable cryptocurrency by market cap, valued at approximately $180 million USD.

Jaxx Founder and CEO Anthony Di Iorio said, “We received countless requests from the community to add support for Litecoin, and we knew it was already accepted by Apple on the AppStore, so for us it’s a perfect fit and makes the most sense right now. Litecoin has stood the test of time; it’s very popular at number four, and it boasts better transaction times than Bitcoin.”

Charlie Lee, Creator of Litecoin, said, “I created Litecoin to complement, instead of compete, with Bitcoin. I’ve always envisioned a future where people transact in multiple different cryptocurrencies. Jaxx is one of the easiest to use wallets and I’m excited to be able to hold both my bitcoins and litecoins in the same wallet.”

Andrew Vegetabile, Director of the Litecoin Association, added, “Jaxx, like many of those within the Litecoin community, believes in the fact that we are part of one larger family of cryptocurrency. Having Litecoin integrated with Jaxx allows our community members, who are also members of other communities, to feel a sense of unity when accessing platforms that allow multiple cryptos. This partnership enables those cross-community members to access their various cryptocurrencies in one platform without having to worry about keeping up with multiple wallets and applications.”

Litecoin is one of the globe’s most trusted cryptocurrencies and a leading alternative payment system. In conjunction with its Jaxx integration, Litecoin will use Q4 2016 to carry out memory usage improvements, faster signature validation, SegWit integration, and potentially, confidential transactions.

Litecoin’s integration comes just a fortnight after Jaxx added support for Ethereum Classic and Dash before it. Jaxx will announce the addition of several more tokens for integration into their suite of wallets in the coming months.

“We have always been pro-technology and pro-choice. One of our primary goals is to give people options in a constantly evolving digital age. We are proud to be the one-stop shop for people managing their digital wealth; customers can now access their portfolio of coins, trade them, and hold onto their keys without having to trust a centralized exchange,” said Di Iorio.

Since launching in June 2016, over 50,000 users have downloaded Jaxx.

New Major Jaxx Release on its way; will include full Ethereum Classic (ETC) integration

ETC-post-Image-cropped***UPDATE – Ethereum Classic has been released!!***

A few weeks ago, I announced that Jaxx would not be integrating Ether Classic anytime soon. The rationale was twofold. First, I believe that we jumped the gun with our DAO efforts and wasted resources aiming to become a “DAO command center”. Lesson learned. Second, we had already committed to a short-term dev schedule that included the launch of Dash, a complete menu overhaul, new features that allow sorting and hiding of tokens and currencies, various other UI work allowing us to support more tokens, and a new express and custom wallet setup procedure for new installations of Jaxx.

Today I am happy to announce that not only were we able to complete these above tasks, but also, in our spare time, we were able to get ourselves ready for Ethereum Classic integration. In the coming days Jaxx will be releasing a major upgrade which will include full ETC support, including a simple way to split ETH / ETC right in Jaxx.

Ethereum Classic is the 6th highest blockchain token by market cap, and ideologically, I have never been averse to supporting it. If I was a maximalist, I never would have founded Ethereum and would still be proclaiming Bitcoin as the be all and end-all. I am pro-technology and all for individual choice. Jaxx shares a similar philosophy.

Adding ETC just makes sense for Jaxx: we’ve received tons of requests from both ETC fans and ETH fans and all those in between to provide integration. People need ways to store ETC outside of exchanges, and our customers (and I) need a simple way to split ETH as well as have an easy path to sell (via shapeshift), or manage their ETC. Soon they will be able to do so across 9 platforms and devices using Jaxx. The new release will be pushed in the next few days.

Jaxx Wallet Adds Dash Integration & New Custom Features

Toronto, CA – Today, Jaxx blockchain wallet has taken its latest step forward in its mission to become the definitive, cross-platform interface for blockchain technology with its integration of Dash, one of the most popular tokens in the cryptocurrency space.

The new Dash integration, which enables users to send, receive and manage their Dash tokens, marks the beginning of Jaxx’s next phase of development, which will see the onboarding of more tokens while helping to broaden and support the wider blockchain ecosystem with new back-end tools. As with previous Jaxx token integrations, users can now also buy and sell Dash directly in the wallet via the convenience of Shapeshift.

“Jaxx supports and is very active in the Bitcoin and Ethereum ecosystem, now we’re excited to be joining the vibrant Dash community”, stated Jaxx CEO and Founder Anthony Di Iorio. “We had put a call on social media asking which tokens we should add next, and Dash by far was the most vocal and enthusiastic”, Di Iorio continued.

Released via an update across all 9 platforms and devices, the new version of Jaxx also marks the debut of a customizable multi-token display. This feature enables users to select the tokens they wish to have enabled and displayed, as well as the order they appear on the main screen. This new visual experience works in tandem with the recently added base currency display options and the overall redesign of Jaxx’s menu layout to make for a sleeker, more customizable user experience.

“It’s our goal to provide an interface and user experience for blockchain that’s tailored for mass adoption,” stated Anthony Di Iorio, “similar to what the browser enabled for the internet, or the graphical user interface did for the personal computer, continued Di Iorio.” Another key tenet of Jaxx’s approach to development and growth is to provide back-end tools and infrastructure that benefits and decentralizes the entire blockchain ecosystem.

Jaxx desktop, mobile, and extension versions can be installed at jaxx.io, or by visiting the Apple App Store, Android Play Store, or Google Chrome Store for their respective versions. For media inquiries and partnership opportunities please contact [email protected]

Dash RSVPs to the Jaxx party! Integration coming soon

Dash-JaxxIn our last blog post, we mentioned that we were interested in getting the public’s opinion on which tokens they’d like to see integrated into Jaxx next. Well, the public has spoken, and one option has come out definitely above all others: Dash!

(For those of you who requested other coins, don’t worry, we’ve got our eyes on multiple prizes…)

We don’t have a precise timeline for the Jaxx-Dash integration yet, but we’re excited for the opportunity to take advantage of Dash’s unique features and to provide a whole new user based with a sleek mobile, desktop and tablet interface for managing their coins.

We’re planning a multi-stage integration, starting with a relatively “no-frills” Dash wallet for managing DSH tokens, then incorporate Dash’s unique features afterwards.

In this mockup, you can see not only what our Dash wallet will most likely look like, but also our preliminary design for our new multi-coin interface, complete with a handy slider function for easily switching between wallets.

Jaxx dash

Our long-term goal is to provide great wallets to underserved but passionate coin communities so that they can enjoy the same convenience and accessible user experiences that BTC and ETH have enjoyed for some time, and that we believe the Jaxx-Dash integration will bring to the Dash community.
Thank you to everyone who chimed in with coin and token suggestions! There’s more to come.

HOLY SHIFT!! Jaxx adds ShapeShift for in-app BTC/ETH/DAO conversion (The Final Day of Jaxx)

Jaxx_Shapeshift Banner

Shapescreen1

It’s the final day of the Many Days of Jaxx, and we had to rest up yesterday, ’cause today’s a big one. The Jaxx-ShapeShift integration is finally ready to go, and we’ve just released it as part of Jaxx 1.0.2!

This release is available now for Chrome, Firefox, Android, and PC/Mac/Linux desktops, and will be available for iOS devices over the next 24-36 hours once it’s cleared Apple’s standard review process.

This feature can be used to quickly convert between the three options currently hosted by Jaxx – BTC, ETH, and DAO – and will also work for whatever coins and tokens we integrate in the future.

Jaxx users can open up the ShapeShift view by selecting the fox icon below the Amount bar on any wallet screen, or by entering “ShapeShift” into the Address bar. From this view, users can specify what coin/token type they would like to convert to, as well as view the current conversion rate for their selection and the minimum and maximum deposit allowed by ShapeShift. Users then simply enter the amount they want to convert (or “Shift”) in either fiat or the coin being converted and they’re good to go.
The Jaxx-ShapeShift integration is just the latest in what will be a wide variety of integrations designed to make Jaxx a unified blockchain command centre. I’d like to personally thank the Shapeshift team for the help with the integration and have to definitely give it up for our entire team here at Decentral.

Over the next while, we’ll be focusing on improving Jaxx’s performance, tightening up its UI, and addressing some of the bugs that have appeared in recent builds (eg. the difficulties with sweeping certain paper wallets).

Update, 4:40pm EST: We’ve just released a second update, which features a variety of UI fixes and tweaks, as well as some new fixes for the Transfer Paper Wallet feature.

Preview: Jaxx-Coinbase design concept for debit card purchasing (The Many Days of Jaxx, Day 10)

Jaxx coinbase integration
Note: these are initial-concept designs only!

It’s Day 10 of the Many Days of Jaxx!

Today we’re presenting our initial concept for our integration of Coinbase’s “Buy Widget” into Jaxx, the first stage of our plan to make the cash purchase of coins and tokens from within Jaxx as convenient and painless as possible.

While online currency exchanges offer a host of great services for seasoned users, the wait times and friction points associated with the mandatory registration process can sometimes work to turn away potential new users. In recognition of the fact that the space requires new, faster and more convenient ways for users to purchase cryptocurrency with cash, we’re excited to give the community a sneak peek at our planned integration of Coinbase’s “Buy Widget” directly within Jaxx.

Coinbase (who we’re told are big fans of Jaxx) approached us about the possibility of this integration recently, and we’re still determining the best approach. We believe in increased collaboration between companies in the wallet space, and this is a particularly exciting prospect for us for that reason.

The Jaxx-Coinbase integration would enable Jaxx users in the United States to use a debit card number to purchase BTC from directly within Jaxx. Coinbase plans to add other coins and tokens to this feature in the future. We are currently investigating purchase options for users in other parts of the world.

Below you’ll find our preliminary design for what we envision the integration will look and feel like. We’re still ironing out the finer points of the UI and the precise logistics, and whether we’ll have the option to customize the widget’s functions and design to match the current Jaxx aesthetic. The integration would require that users enter a name, email address and debit card number – please note that this data will be processed on Coinbase’s end and will not be stored by Jaxx. We remain committed to our policy of not holding user information or funds in our apps.

Please note that we are still in the initial stages of working out this integration and some aspects may change. We plan to work closely with Coinbase to ensure the most seamless user experience possible. We’d like to thank the Coinbase team for reaching out to us and suggesting this integration.

Stay tuned for more exciting announcements as the Many Days of Jaxx roll on…

This will not affect the functionality of Jaxx whatsoever. We apologize for any inconvenience and should have normal service restored before very long. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding.

Look who’s joining the Jaxx family (Day 8 of the Many Days of Jaxx)

Jaxx Dao

Today, for day 8 of the Seven Many Days of Jaxx, we’re pleased to announce that the next stage of our Jaxx DAO integration has gone live: our DAO wallet. The Android, Chrome, Desktop, and Firefox versions of Jaxx have already been updated, and the iOS version should go live within the next 24-36 hours, pending Apple’s standard review process.

The DAO has captured the imagination of the Ethereum community and beyond, and has been widely discussed in the mainstream media. For all of the chatter, there are still very few options for DAO tokenholders to actually manage their tokens.

Screen Shot 2016-06-06 at 4.51.35 PM

Jaxx 1.0.1 now has a
DAO wallet screen, which displays the current DAO token balance associated with your Jaxx Ethereum addresses. It also enables users to transfer in more DAO tokens, send them to external services, or shift/pool them between Jaxx addresses as desired. To verify which accounts were used to generate tokens, check Tools > Back Up Wallet > Display Private Keys > Display Ethereum Keys and look for the DAO icon. We do not currently have a DAO Transaction History ready, but it will be shortly.

Please note that in order to see your DAO token balance, you will need to have a pre-existing ETH transfer. Please also note that you will not be able to transfer from any DAO account that does not have an ETH balance as the transfer will require ETH. You will be prompted on the DAO wallet screen if you have DAO accounts with no ETH balance. Lastly, our multi-function camera button located on the main screen defaults to ETH view when you scan your DAO QR code. This is because we haven’t found a way to determine whether you’re scanning an Ethereum or DAO address. Best thing to do is use the normal send button and scan the QR code or paste in the address you are sending to. In our next update we’ll have a workaround wherein you are prompted which QR code type you’re scanning.

Please keep in mind that we’re developing completely new implementations of brand-new technology, and occasional roadblocks will occur. We’re working hard to make sure it works perfectly soon. If you have any questions or difficulties, please get in touch at [email protected]

As previously announced, we’re also working on a Proposals and Voting display that will let you browse and vote on Proposals directly within Jaxx. This is a major priority for us and we hope to have it ready before the first major Proposals’ voting periods have concluded.

Last week, we unveiled RocketDAO, our web portal for browsing, creating, submitting, and voting on Proposals. RocketDAO will be powered by Jaxx and will act as your complete DAO command centre, from which you can take advantage of all The DAO has to offer.
We have a few more announcements and reveals still to come this week, so keep your eyes peeled as the Many Days of Jaxx roll on…

Introducing RocketDAO: Browse, Create, Submit, Vote (7 Days of Jaxx, Day 5)

Announcing RocketDAO

It’s Day 5 of 7 Days of Jaxx, and for today’s announcement, we’re diving back into the world of The DAO. We’re still hard at work on our full DAO integration for Jaxx, and expect to have DAO token management available in-app imminently. Today’s reveal is concerned with another aspect of The DAO: browsing, creating, submitting, and voting on Proposals.

RocketDAO - Main Screen

One of the reasons The DAO has inspired so much interest in the disruptive-tech community and beyond is the way it empowers users to have a direct say in the projects and direction of a large, decentralized community. All Decentral products prioritize ease of use and friendly, accessible blockchain technology experiences designed for the masses. To this end, we’ve conceived RocketDAO, a web portal for browsing, creating, submitting, and voting on Proposals – including those that have not yet been formally submitted to The DAO – that will integrate directly with our wallet, Jaxx.

RocketDAO - Submission Screen

RocketDAO will streamline the Proposal process to ensure that DAO members can craft, submit and give feedback on Proposals with as little friction as possible. Proposal submission through RocketDAO works like this:

Gather feedback

Getting any Proposal to even reach quorum is a daunting task given the size of The DAO’s voter base. On RocketDAO, you can easily post up an initial draft of your Proposal, then hone your message and terms according to user feedback until you’re satisfied that you’ll be able to secure the support you need going forward.

Get whitelisted
If your completed Proposal features a party who will be compensated for their services, you’ll need to get the Recipient address whitelisted by The DAO’s Curators. You’ll be able to apply directly from RocketDAO, and be notified when you’ve been greenlit.

RocketDAO - Payment Screen

Submit your finished proposal
Once you’re approved by the Curators, all you need to do is pay The DAO’s Proposal submission fee. RocketDAO presents you with a payment QR code that can be scanned by either the mobile/tablet or browser extension versions of Jaxx to facilitate the payment in seconds.

Track your progress
After you’ve completed your Proposal submission, you can track its progress and its popularity throughout the voting period.

RocketDAO will act as a marketplace and proving ground for all DAO token holders to browse, discuss and vote on Proposals. Voting will also work directly with Jaxx via our imminent DAO integration, which will also support voting and proposal browsing. Micropayments to The DAO will be required for leaving comments, in order to support the ecosystem and minimize trolling.

RocketDAO - Detailed Proposal

You can expect RocketDAO to launch shortly after our full DAO integration for Jaxx has gone live. Look for more details on that shortly as 7 Days of Jaxx continues…
